soo fo xmas i got a "songwriting for dummies" book...i'm taking jazz piano lessons, and my teacher has gotten me to start writing songs; now, the one song i HAVE written is a jazz tune, although my teacher said it sounded "poppy"...although he did say my melody was very catchy *wiggles eyebrows* anyways so i know i can write the music part of songs noooo problem. i mean...you just put a bunch of chords together (I IV V never fails!) and maybe do somem like-function substitution, and then pick notes that fall within that chord and in the key and voila you have a song.
ANYHOO my problem is that i can't write lyrics...well...i suppose that's an over-statment (over-statement? is that what i mean?) because i haven't actually TRIED writing any yet...but everything i think of sounds like a corny country song...which is NOT what i'm trying to write. my problem is i've never been good at poetry, and a song is just poetry put to music...*sigh* and the "songwriting for dummies" book talks about how you're just supposed to write what you feel, and write about something you care about, but...i don't know what i feel or what i care about haha...i mean...i'm not exactly the most experienced person in the love field, which i guess is good cuz love songs are SOOOO overdone haha...but ya. i have like a journal thing that my aunt got me for christmas that i plan on using for writing lyrics out, if i can ever think of any....maybe inspiration will strike sometime...what i really need is a topic. *ponders* maybe i'll just stick to writing song parody's (like weird al!) those, i know i can do cuz i've done them before haha...but that's just not as satisfying as writing your own song....
*sigh*
in other news, i taught my self to play "for you i will" on guitar today :D it's realllllly easy and very satisfying. *sings* gonna muster every ounce of confidence i have, cannonball into the waterrrrr.....

Um, you go to your dashboard and select "edit" instead of "new post", duh.
Anyway, as for the lyric stuff, just right random shi....ufff that has some small relationship to the line before, like word association, and people will put there own meanings to it.
