jesus? santa? hm...

you may have seen this ad in a magazine or in the paper...there was some controversy when these ads first came out, but that's not what i'm gonna talk about...i like this ad because it gets you to stop and think what christmas is really about. it's a holiday to celebrate jesus's birth. somehow it's changed into the most commercialized holiday EVER. holy crap. money is changing hands SO fast it's not even funny. i mean, ok, giving is nice, it's GOOD to give, giving is better than receiving, all that stuff, and it is true. but what are we teaching kids when all they think of when they think of christmas is a crapload of toys?! and i like most of the traditions that go with christmas, like christmas lights; those are pretty and when more people do them, the neighbourhood looks beautiful. but i mean...sometimes it seems like christmas is just one big material-things fest. i mean, people who aren't even christian and don't believe in jesus celebrate christmas, which really just goes to show how commercial this holiday has become...so just stop to think about what christmas is: a celebration of our savior's birth.
