change rooms

the one thing i can't stand about shopping is change rooms. i mean, like, c'mon, folks, if i'm going to spend money at your store, at least give me a good change room.

firstly, none of this curtain crap. what is with stores that use curtains as a door??! possibly the most awkward and un-private thing EVER. especially when you're trying on bathing suits and you're stripping down to your undies. like, holy fully-exposed! and you're giving me a CURTAIN to cover me from complete STRANGERS?! *eye twitch* ...someone walks by too briskly and WHOOSH anyone can see my half-naked self...and plus there's always like, spaces between the curtain and the wall of the change room. doors are good.

besides doors are MIRRORS. give me a mirror IN the change room, not communal ones outside of the change room so if i want to see how ugly i looking a bathing suit or some super-tight jeans, only i see how ugly i look, not the salesperson, telling me it looks good on me (they're just trying to sell stuff! it looks like crap!), or some other girl's boyfriend. pleeeeease spare me the agony and just put mirrors in the change rooms instead of communal ones. please.

i like when there's a bench in the change room too. it helps me stay organized. if you only give me 3 hooks, that really doesn't help. 3 hooks for the clothes i'm trying on and to put my clothes that i'm wearing, plus hang my purse on, plus a jacket?! not going to happen. if not a bench, then at least a stool of some sort. i like lottsa hooks too because then i can organize the clothes into "yes" and "no" and "maybe" ...

oh! and somewhere clear that i can put the clothes i don't want. bluenotes is terrible for this, they don't have anywhere to put the clothes you don't want...i'm not going to spend my time putting things back on hangers and putting them back, because, let's face it, i suck at folding/hanging up and even if i did do it well, the salesperson would just redo it because it's not done how the store does it...so just a counter of SOME sort, so i'm not like "...soooooo what do i do with this?" ....and on that note, if you're going to lock your change rooms (which it seems all stores are doing these days) then HAVE SOMEONE AROUND WHO WILL UNLOCK THEM! once again bluenotes is terrible for that. you kinda hang around the back where the change rooms are, with a crapload of clothes in your arms, and the salespeople just go on ignoring you. jeeze.

salespeople in general bother me. i mean, i work in the sales industry (...sort of lmao) and i know enough about how you're supposed to treat customers to know that these people aren't doingn it...i mean sure, there are some, but most of them don't help...like if they're busy doing something else, it takes TWO SECONDS to say "i'll be right with you" (...i feel like i've written about this before lol....anyways) ...

...end note: i have to say, as much as i dislike american eagle, they have very nice change rooms. spacious, lovely doors, mirrors inside the change room, hooks, benches...very nice.

A nice changing room is lovely. If I was in retail, like owned a store, the changing rooms would have big squishy chairs in them and full length mirrors and they WOULDN"T be lit with flourecent lights!! Which make everyone look UGLAY!!!

When you say you work in retail, I hope you are referring to Summer House, because I had a good laugh. We sell old expensive groceries, ice cream, useless hardware items, beach toys and tacky gifts...the best of all retail combined in one wicked store!

Oh, and have you noticed that our changeroom is awful? It's super tiny, and the air conditioning vent is inside. It's super chilly...there is a mirror and hooks, but it's too tiny to get a good look anyway, and the hooks would probably stab you in the eye.

And I agree with you and the Bluenotes employees. Smile, people!! I think the most helpful employees are at the Bootlegger in Guelph...very attractive...uh, I mean, attentive.

and i've never really paid close attention to our changeroom -- next summer, that's the first thing i'm doing when i get there my first day - checkin out the change room :D

Flourecent lights show you for what you really are. Dimmer lights make you look good. The outside world is not lit with dim lights. The sun shows you for you, so its best to see what you really look like before you buy something. rather than buy it cause the lights make you look good, get home, step outside and go... oh... my.. god. what have I done. hahaha *coughs Blaines shirt cough cough* Thank god it looks good on him... and feels good ;) *hem* ANYWAYS! Sooo. Yes I agree with the hooks in the changerooms things. It drives me insane when they only have like 2 or 3 hooks. And when the mirror is outside! Yiie. *shakes head*
