Or you could walk...
Every day when I walk home from school, there are, on average, 5 cars parked around the little circle-type thing in front of my house. No, someone does not have daily parties...no, there is no home business in one of my neighbours' houses...and no, people on my street do not have an abnormally large number of cars. These are parents, come to pick up their kids from school. The elementary school is about a 2 minute walk from my house through a little path-type thing, so then kids walk 2 minutes to their parents awaiting cars and get a 30 second (at most) drive home. You see...the boundaries for the school are all within walking distance, hence the reason we don't have buses. And it's condensed, it's a subdivision for goodness sakes. And it really isn't that far to the farthest point of the boundary, maybe a 10 minute walk? 15? ...Really, when you think about it, it's not that far. Not only is my street busy, but, holy cow, you should see the street actually in front of the school. It's pretty much impossible to drive by there at 3pm on a weekday, that's just how busy it is. Give me a freaking break. Ok, I suppose I can cut some slack for some people who live the furthest away, maybe it is a far walk, or if your child is really young and you don't feel safe letting them walk home alone. But I know there is at least one family who lives a little way down from my house on the main street, and every single freaking day, the mom is out there in her huge-ass tank of an SUV, idling in her car, waiting for her 12 year old and 14 year old kids. Ok. so let's just think about how much gas she's wasting idling, first of all. Not only wasting gas, but polluting our air, and not only idling, but actually driving to and from her house to school in the morning and after school. And those kids can WALK they're plenty old enough. Most people are similarly not THAT far away. And let me tell you, it was NEVER like this when I went to school there, 4 years ago, so why has it started to get worse? HELLO PEOPLE. You're polluting our air NEEDLESSLY every day just so you can pick up your lazy kids from school. THEY CAN WALK. A little exercise never hurt anyone.

*claps* Your really good at this ranting thing. You should publish these things, and sell it as "100 things that annoy joanna" Or make your own Doody rant. (instead of pachelbel). lol That is like Carlina. everymorning she waits in her car until the bus gets there. lol as soon as she steps out of the car she looks like she is freezing to death. Meanwhile everyone that is not soiled rotten has been standing outside for at least 10 minutes. And then after school, she gets off the bus, and gets in her daddies car. and goes home. Muffin, cant stand a bit of cold and a little walk. Ooops I guess I had something to rant about too. :D
LOL i'll totally make a rant. it'll include things like this, and changerooms, and discrete, and crumbs in the margarine (don't even get me started.)
jeeze, buy a warmer jacket, a scarf, a hat, and some very fuzzy mittens. problem solved.
it's because we're living in a fear culture created to promote consumerism. people don't want to let their kids walk two blocks because they could get kidnapped or bullied or they could fall and hurt themselves or they could find a spider.
if that's the case, it's a sad state our world is in.
(although i don't like spiders either...maybe i should get my mom to drive me to the bus stop)
